Saphānria is a mysterious, veiled figure with stars for eyes and a third eye glowing on their forehead. Their form is essentially Asian but they remain shrouded in mist and ever-shifting, sometimes appearing as a sleeping child, sometimes as an ancient sage. In some depictions, they are surrounded by swirling clouds of dreamstuff, with visions and nightmares flickering within. Saphānria is enigmatic, gentle, and sometimes unsettling. They inspire visions, creativity, and prophecy, but also bring madness and confusion. Saphānria teaches that dreams are both a gift and a challenge, and that inspiration often comes from the edge of reason.
Worship: Oracles, artists, mystics, and those seeking guidance through dreams honor Saphānria. Shrines are often found near places of sleep—bedrooms, inns, and sanctuaries for the mentally ill.
Offerings: Sleep-inducing herbs, dream journals, and whispered secrets are left at their shrines. Worshipers may fast or meditate to induce visions, or share their dreams with the community.
Celebrations: The Night of a Thousand Dreams is held during the longest night of the year. People gather to share dreams, perform plays inspired by visions, and seek prophecies from oracles. It is believed that on this night, Saphānria walks the world, bestowing inspiration, insight, and wisdom.
